They are depressed into the 3" tubes to form a wide stepping surface, providing more comfortable entry and exit from your vehicle.

All ARIES 3" round nerf bars are designed vehicle-specific. Rather than universal nerf bars, each set is engineered to fit a specific vehicle application. The length and bends of the tubes, the position of the step pads and the configuration of the mounting brackets are all customized for an exact fit.
